Pivoting with Purpose

Earlier this month, a survey was conducted by Morgan Marketing & Communications to assess the global maritime industry’s sentiments about media preferences, webinars and physical/virtual events.  It turns out that most of you prefer digital to print, yet you are split on which medium is more valuable.  All of you have attended at least one webinar in the past three months, with most of you finding them valuable or somewhat valuable, while recognizing they are here to stay.

Of particular note was the data obtained regarding upcoming travel, and industry preference for physical versus virtual events.  Only 16% of you said you were able to travel in 4th quarter, and that number only went up to 29% for 1st quarter of 2021.  Further, most of you didn’t know when the decision to resume travel would happen.  And, while the majority of you prefer a physical event (who doesn’t???), 73% of you have health concerns about attending an in-person event in 4th quarter.

This puts organizations like SHIPPINGInsight in a real quandary:  How do we meet the needs of the industry to bring shipowners and solution providers together in a manner that is safe and productive?  How can we support the acceleration of change needed to meet both regulatory, operational and commercial demands?  How do we provide the information, introductions, one-on- one engagement and networking our industry needs to move forward?

We need to pivot with a purpose—to deliver an event that meets the maritime community’s needs while keeping safe.  Stay tuned!!

Keep optimizing,

Carleen
