The Need for Personal Connections
For many of us, it is week 7 of our lockdown (some of you have more, or less, notches on your belts- if you are wearing belts these days!). This was a necessary step taken around the world to prevent the spread of COVID-19; to a great extent, it created a level playing field as no one was unaffected. It also tested our resiliency and creativity to be productive and adapt to the “new normal”.
As the world’s second oldest business, our industry is built on personal relationships. These connections are the foundation of trust and open communication that are tested, and proven, over time. Even with the acceleration of digitalization and automation, we still rely on trusted sources for our information and guidance when making high-dollar and transformational decisions.
Microsoft Teams, Zoom, WebEx and Facetime have done a terrific job letting us see each other while we connect. But nothing beats the personal connection that face to face provides.
(On a personal note, I miss the hugs and the handshakes.)
When the maritime community is ready to emerge from ‘lockdown’ – SHIPPINGInsight’s proven conference will be the fastest, most cost-effective and impactful way to engage with peers, solution providers and customers, and will be a perfect opportunity to ‘hit the ground running.’ We anticipate that it will be one of the first global maritime events to occur after our COVID hibernation, and we look forward to welcoming you then! Start planning NOW to join us in October!
Keep optimizing,
Carleen
