2020: A Shipping Odyssey Encapsulates Maritime’s Future

Industry Facing “Monolith Moment”

STAMFORD, Conn., July 10, 2019 –Borrowing from the icons of the 1968 movie, the 8th annual SHIPPINGInsight Fleet Optimization and Innovation Conference & Exhibition – North America’s premier maritime technology event—will be themed “2020: A Shipping Odyssey”.   This year’s program, like the movie, will take the delegates from the challenges of today (IMO 2020), through to 2050 incorporating the moments of change and advancements affecting the shipping industry. The conference will be held October 15-17th at the Stamford Hilton in Stamford, Connecticut USA.

“Our industry is facing its ‘monolith’ moment” observed SHIPPINGInsight’s Chief Evolution Officer Carleen Lyden Walker.  “This is a period of profound change.  How we navigate through this period will determine the future success of our industry.  SHIPPINGInsight will present thought leaders and technologies that will support industry through this period.”

Topical discussions on finalization of preparations for 2020, enforcement of the new regulation, preparing for 2023 and the movement towards decarbonization, impact of the Poseidon Principles on shipping, cybersecurity preparation for 2021, and the risks/rewards of digitalization are some of the issues being covered.  There will also be a “Shark Tank” featuring the latest startups in maritime.

SHIPPINGInsight will be held October 15-17th at the Stamford Hilton.  Preceding the afternoon launch on October 15th will be two private label seminars.  Partnerships for the event are available by contacting David Weidner.  To attend the conference, go to SHIPPINGInsight registration.

“Leveraging off last year’s tremendous success, SHIPPINGInsight is perfectly positioned to support the shipping industry as one of the last events before January 1, 2020” stated Walker
