HudsonAnalytix to Host Seminar on Maritime Cyber Security at SHIPPINGInsight Understanding and Mitigating Cyber Risk is Deemed Critical Priority

Stamford, Conn. – Sept. 11, 2017 – HudsonAnalytix will present at a pre-conference seminar Monday, Oct. 9th at 4:00 pm at the Stamford Marriot Hotel & Spa. Presenting will be Michael Edgerton, Vice President of HudsonTrident and a maritime security and cyber security expert, who will be sharing his insights and considerable knowledge regarding cyber security and shipping.  Edgerton will discuss the unique threats and risks posed by cyber events on ships and shipping lines, and will discuss key areas of vulnerability.  He will also discuss international and governmental initiatives and provide recommendations for shipping executives on how to develop and build a cyber security program that is complementary to other programs and provides enterprise security while also ensuring the efficiency of commercial operations.  The seminar will be followed by a reception hosted by SHIPPINGInsight.

Stated Edgerton: “Achieving meaningful cyber security requires a truly enterprise approach – one that involves leadership engagement to drive a paradigm change across the organization.”

Edgerton is a retired military officer with service in both the U.S. Navy and Coast Guard and has been in the commercial sector for the last 13 years serving as a maritime security consultant internationally.  He has worked in over 40 countries and is the author of a book on maritime security published by Wiley and Sons.  Edgerton is responsible for HudsonAnalytix’ security practice area which includes physical, operational and cyber security.  He is a Fellow of the Security Institute (U.K.) as well as a Fellow of the Royal Society for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce.

The pre-conference seminar is part of SHIPPINGInsight’s annual conference focusing on fleet optimization featuring speakers and exhibitors who present practical technology solutions to operate ships and fleets more efficiently.  Over 40 shipowners and 200 additional delegates are expected to attend this two and a half-day event in Stamford running from October 10-12th culminating in a shipowner’s roundtable.
